Library and Resources

The Ayres Memorial Library in historic Trinity Episcopal Church is one of Santa Barbara's great quiet places. The library's diverse collection of books for all ages is maintained by Trinity's Library Guild.

This group maintains books in our parish library. Volunteers who enjoy filing and shelving are always welcome, as are volunteers to select and display books at the Sunday Resource Table.

Book of Common Prayer

The Book of Common Prayer, or BCP, is the collection of offices, liturgies, and seasons of the Anglican Church.

The first prayer book, the "1549," was authorized in that year by King Edward VI, and Anglicans are celebrating its 450th birthday. Currently the 1979 BCP is the official prayer book of the Episcopal Church of the U.S.A. The previous BCP, the "1928," maintains its enthusiasts.

For more on the BCP, see the Catholic Encyclopedia article, the Archbishop Justus Society site, or William S. Peterson's bibliography.
