Church School at Trinity offers something for children and young people from nursery age through high school.

There are opportunities for adults to grow in their Christian journey and minister to one another on Sundays and throughout the week. Watch the bulletin and newsletter for specifics about Sunday as well as special events throughout the year.

Christian Formation

Trinity's Sunday Church School and Adult Education programs provide Christian formation, biblical study, and other learning opportunities throughout the church year, with special programs planned for Lent and Trinity Festival week in June. All programs are planned and carried out by volunteer lay ministers at Trinity. Ministry opportunities range from program design to publicity to providing and serving refreshments or staffing registration tables. Council Chair: Coleen Sterne Email.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd: This Montessori-based program is based on the belief that children have an innate knowledge of God. Trained volunteer catechists assist the children with their discoveries of God in Level I for ages three to five, Level II for grades 1-3 and Level III for grades 4-6. The annual Eucharist Retreat and the Christmas Eve Children's Liturgy offer special opportunities to assist with crafts, snacks, meals, and other arrangements for the children. Contact Laura Wilson, 569-8849.

Journey to Adulthood (Rite 13 and J2A) provides Christian formation for our youth, addressing the specific needs of preteens and teenagers. The program includes exploration of self, spirituality, sexuality and society. Rite 13 is for young people in grades 7-8 and J2A is for young people in grades 9-12. Every third year the program includes a Middlers (pre-Rite 13) group and a Senior High School Confirmation Class. Adults serve as facilitators for the two-year curricula, or as drivers, chaperones, special presenters, and occasional snack providers. Contact: Anne Howard, 965-7419.

Lenten Series: Each year during Lent, Trinity parishioners gather on Tuesday evenings for special week-night and weekend presentations and small group discussions. Volunteers are needed each year to plan and produce each evening. Opportunities for involvement include program design, publicity, set-up, and hospitality. Contact: Coleen Sterne Email.

Library Guild: This group maintains books in our parish library. Volunteers who enjoy filing and shelving are always welcome, as are volunteers to select and display books at the Sunday Resource Table. Contact: Lou Smitheram, 687-5403.

Meeting Church Again for the First Time: This ten-week series introduces the Episcopal Church and life at Trinity. Covering history, theology, the Bible, and our particular identity as Anglican Christians, it serves as preparation for confirmation and baptism as well as membership at Trinity. Classes meet each fall on Tuesday evenings and each spring on Saturday mornings. Volunteers are welcome to assist with class preparation. Contact: Anne Howard, 965-7419.

Sunday Forums: Trinity's Sunday 9:00 a.m. forums are occasional educational events featuring current topics of parish-wide or community concern. Volunteers are needed on a rotating weekly basis to prepare refreshments, make signs, serve as hosts or discussion facilitators. Contact: Anne Howard, 965-7419.

via media represents a renewed commitment to evangelism in the Episcopal Church. One of the lessons of General Convention is that the Church needs to spread the message of an inclusive, powerful, passionate God to all people. Our churches have experienced a tension between "traditional" and "progressive" ideals in the weeks following the prophetic actions of General Convention. An evangelism tool that presents the basic tenets of Christianity from an inclusive, Anglican approach to scripture, traditions, and reason, leads the participants to a broader view of the journey of faith and the role that the Church can play in society. via media represents an inherently Anglican program that represents the mainstream of American Anglicanism and will help grow the Episcopal Church.

via media is a powerful resource for building Christian community, bringing people into the Church who previously have felt alienated or unwelcome. Our Church stands on the threshold of a marvelous evangelism opportunity, and the actions of General Convention 2003 opened the door. via media is the resource we need to open the door even wider and keep it open for all who seek the Good News of Jesus Christ.

via media is a tool for evangelism designed to proclaim the Good News of God in Christ Jesus and to present the Episcopal Church in a contemporary context.

via media celebrates who we are as American Anglicans and invites others to "taste and see," offering seekers both the content and the context for conversations about Christian faith from an unabashedly Anglican perspective.

via media is grounded in the traditional Anglican perspective balancing Scripture, Traditions and Reason. It is rooted in Trinitarian theology and offers a diverse, compelling witness to the unique way of being Christian that is our Anglican heritage.

via media invites those seeking spiritual community to explore Anglican Christianity through a non-threatening eight-week course of study, prayer and conversation surrounded by radical hospitality.
