| Station VII – Jesus Falls a Second Time Artist – Tim Schiffer – Mixed Media To me the twisted growth of branches embodies pain, struggle and perseverance. I originally intended to build a sculpture out of several branches, but I liked the way this one resembles a turning, falling torso. It seemed a shame to break off its arms and legs, so I just let it speak for itself. I also liked the contrast between the rotted, twisting branch and the smooth straight wood of the cross. The dried artichoke blossom is like a flower of pain, a grotesque sun that illuminates the day’s events. |
