This vital weekly event serves many purposes for all of us. It is a time to touch base and catch up with friends, a time to give and receive support to/from members of our parish family, a time to meet and greet visitors and newcomers to our church, and to gather and share information about the many activities, ministries, and upcoming events/programs at Trinity.
The Trinity Host Table and Parish Resource Table are set up and staffed during Coffee Hour following the 10:00 a.m. service. Volunteers at the Trinity Host Table provide information and assistance to visitors and newcomers; volunteers at the Parish Resource Table are there to provide a wide range of information and services to all parishioners.
Abundance Table:
Trinity has been holding an abundance table every week at church
since the Sunday after Easter 2005, and we will go until either halloween or
Thanksgiving, not sure yet. It's simply a place where people bring live
foods to share with the community. Many people bring things from their
gardens, or glean from other's gardens (neighbors and friends). There
are a couple of people who work the table each Sunday and using a white
table cloth and many baskets we make it look just beautiful. In
addition to food people also bring in fresh cut flowers, which is a
favorite among the elderly.
The conversation around the Abundance Table
is quite lively and uplifting and has a different feel to it than the
general conversations of coffee hour (can't quite put my finger on that
one!). Some weeks we've literally spilled over and other weeks we've
had just a few wonderful things, it's all been good. The table looks
like a great cornicopia and has included tons of fruit and vegetables
like lemons, oranges, tangerines, loquats, kumquats, avocados, plums,
tomatoes, zucchini, cherimoyas, every herb you can think of, clippings
for people to plant at home, and even lemon curd (made from the lemons
and brought in the following week!)
