Transition House: phone: 966-9668
email: tranhouses@aol.com

Trinity has had a special relationship with Transition House since it helped start the shelter with other parishes fifteen years ago. Transition House is a Santa Barbara shelter for the temporarily homeless that strives to help motivated families by providing effective services in addition to addressing immediate needs. Trinity provides the evening meal at Transition House once a month, every fourth Saturday. The time involved is about four hours, 4:00 - 8:00 pm. Please call Sibyl Holder (687-2949) if you would like to help.

If you are interested in Transition House and cannot help out with the meal, there are many other volunteer opportunities including working with children, working one-on-one with clients, and helping with job training and art programs. There is a critical need for Spanish speakers. Please contact Tori Gleason (966-9668) torigleason@usa.net if you are interested.

Community Kitchen:
Another ministry to the homeless with its beginnings at Trinity is the Community Kitchen. The Community Kitchen was started by a group of parishioners who began making soup with leftover produce from local grocery stores and serving it to the homeless out of the back door of Trinity's kitchen. Like Transition House, the Community Kitchen expanded and became independent, but a group from Trinity still assists with and serves the noon meal every second and fourth Wednesday (and a fifth when there is one) of the month. The time involved is about four hours, 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. Please call Margaret Vang (682-0876) or Sarah Dobbs (682-7904) if you would like to take part in this ministry.

Giving Tree:
Each Advent season, the Action Committee sponsors the Giving Tree. The Giving Tree is a wonderful way to share the joys of the Christmas season with those who are less fortunate in our community. The tree is located in the sanctuary and contains paper ornaments that indicate a gift to buy for a guest at the Community Kitchen. A gift can be donated by simply choosing an ornament, getting what is needed, wrapping it and returning it to the Giving Tree. The gifts are given to the Community Kitchen guests by Trinity volunteers during a Christmas meal.

Faulding Hotel: (Faulding News)
The Faulding Hotel Ministries is a program of mutual outreach with the residents of the Faulding Hotel in downtown Santa Barbara. Trinity volunteers offer a variety of workshops on subjects ranging from the arts-music, arts and crafts, writing, and dance/exercise--to pragmatic sessions on cooking, legal questions, and yoga, two Saturdays a month, usually from 1-3 p.m. Lunch is also served. The true nature of this work and its significance for all of us lies in sharing our gifts with one another in an atmosphere of spiritual friendship, fellowship, and camaraderie. We welcome volunteers-for a little time or a lot. Contact Dianne Armstrong (568-0575), Isabelle Walker-Klein, Debbie McQuade or Shirley Limoli. for information. Click here for Faulding Pictures.

END OF EXISTING PROJECTS

Outreach Table:
In an effort to keep the parish informed and involved, the Justice and Outreach Council has set up an Outreach table that will be available during the coffee hours of both services. There will be information on upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, news articles, as well as information on the council. If you are involved in an organization in town and would like to have it represented at the Outreach table, please feel free to submit your materials at the table during any coffee hour.

Developing New Projects: If you have a project that you would like the Action Committee of the Justice and Outreach Council to consider, please email Cheryl Young cheryl@biopac.com.
