Proclaim liberty through the land, to all its inhabitants.
It shall be a Jubilee for you.
-- Leviticus 25:10
Trinity is historically and deeply committed to standing
for justice for all people, especially the poor and marginalized and
those relegated to lesser status in our society, and
to caring for those in need, no matter how unimportant they may seem
to be. We hope you share these commitments and want to join in our work. You are
welcome to take part in an existing
ministry or to propose starting a new one that addresses issues of
concern to you.
We base our theology of justice on the four Jubilee themes: caring
for the environment; sharing wealth; freeing the captives; and
reconciling all who are separated from each other and from God. You can learn more about these
themes, which originate in the Old and New Testaments, by going to the
link Jubilee Justice.
The Justice Fund is one
important way that we incarnate our commitment to doing justice and
loving mercy in the world. Another is
our ministries, which encompass both advocacy on justice issues
and caring for those in need.
Whenever
you did something to help any of my people,
no matter how unimportant they seemed,
you did it for me.
-- Matthew 25:35-36
A good way to quickly learn about our ministries is to take a look
at "Love and Justice: Trinity
Reaches Out," a slide show prepared for the 2003 stewardship
campaign.
