Trinity Episcopal Church

Hospitality Ministry

One of our core values at Trinity is our heartfelt hospitality.
We strive to emulate the radical hospitality of Jesus. We love to gather in large and small groups to break bread together and to share our stories, our hopes and our love for one another.

Hospitality Council Co-Chairs: Elaine Christ & Marcy Simmons

Special Events Team
Elaine Christ & Marcy Simmons

This team is responsible for coordinating our all-parish events where we gather in celebration, worship, and fellowship. Included are the Annual Meeting, Maundy Thursday Supper, the June Social, Stewardship Sunday, and the Harvest Dinner. They also oversee coffee hour, and the newcomer events. Many parishioners volunteer their support on an event-by-event basis as an easy and rewarding way to begin to enter the community more deeply. Members of the Special Events team share the responsibility of coordinating these events. All necessary training is provided.

The Abundance Table
Terre Sanitate

The Abundance Table is set up at coffee hour each Sunday during the spring and summer. Members of the parish bring extra food, flowers, herbs, and other items they have to share. The table is a place where we as a community give and receive freely and joyously from our abundance. Volunteers are always welcome.

Pastoral Care Team
Don Zimmerman
Fawzia Talbert

This group of trained visitors, including lay Eucharistic ministers, brings communion and companionship to homebound parishioners. They also meet quarterly to support one another in their ministry.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
Betty Bickel

The prayer shawl ministry represents a physical manifestation of the desire to enfold, comfort, embrace, hug, shelter, and beautify each other in time of trouble. The knitters are anyone who likes to knit (or would like to learn how). The recipients are anyone our priests feel might benefit from knowing that the shawl makers have prayed for them.

Coffee Hour
Anne Shaw & Kim Larsen

Our coffee hour after the 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. services is the most regular opportunity for parishioners and newcomers to gather for fellowship and hospitality. It also provides the venue for the Welcome Table, Resource Table, and the Abundance Table ministries that reach newcomers and regular parishioners alike. Various groups and ministries within the parish host our coffee hour. Volunteers are always welcome to help coordinate this vital aspect of our hospitality.

Trinity Backstage Coffee House
Douglas Clegg and Kate Wallace

Established in 2003 by Kate Wallace and Douglas Clegg, the concert series presents monthly coffeehouse shows in the Guild Hall at Trinity. The Saturday-evening performances feature songwriters and performers in the folk and acoustic genre—the poets and philosophers of our time. Douglas and Kate donate their time to book the performers, do all the publicity and press releases, supply the sound system, and run the show. A team of 12–15 volunteers helps out with donated baked goods, setup, and ticket sales. New volunteers are always welcome. Check out the Trinity Backstage website for more information.

Helping Hands
Betty Bickel

The purpose of Helping Hands is to provide short-term care and support for parishioners who need a little extra help due to illness or life circumstances. These volunteers do things like cook a meal, run an errand, or provide transportation. Helpers are put into a resource pool and called upon on an “as needed” basis.
